Short Biography
Chrysostomos S. Papavassiliou is the Founder, CEO, and Chairperson of Island Oil (Holdings) Ltd, a company he established in 1992 and developed into an international leader in marine fuel supply. He holds a degree in Economics from Greece and an MBA in Shipping & Transportation from the United States, beginning his career in the shipping sector and later working. with Orient Overseas Container Line in Hong Kong.
Under his leadership, Island Oil expanded its tanker fleet, secured ISCC EU certification for biofuel trading, and launched initiatives in sustainable energy through Island Bio-Energy. He has received notable recognition, including the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Business Leader Award in Shipping, and is known for his commitment to ESG, philanthropy, and support of cultural initiatives.
