Fuelling the transition to a sustainable future
Guided by our mission to help fuel the transition to a sustainable future, we embed Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) principles across our operations, strategy and risk management, reducing our environmental impact, investing in our people and upholding rigorous standards of governance and business conduct.
Our approach
Each year, we set strategic objectives with specific environmental and social targets, reviewed operationally by management to ensure they remain aligned with our policies, mission and values. Our sustainability strategy follows two complementary paths: to raise our own standards through ambitious, measurable targets and to maximise the positive impact of our activities on the environment and society.
Governance and oversight
Sustainability is overseen at Board level through our Risk and Sustainability Committee, supported by a dedicated Sustainability Steering Committee responsible for developing our strategy, monitoring performance against key indicators and coordinating our sustainability reporting. Together with management-level review of our annual objectives, this structure ensures clear accountability and the integration of ESG considerations into decision-making across Island Energies.
Environment
We are working to reduce our environmental footprint through emissions and energy management, improved water efficiency and responsible resource use. Our waste-to-energy operations also convert organic waste into biogas and renewable electricity, supporting circular-economy principles and the transition to a lower-carbon future.
Social
We are committed to supporting our people and contributing positively to the communities in which we operate. Our approach focuses on wellbeing, health and safety, professional development, inclusion and meaningful community engagement.
Governance
We uphold high standards of ethical conduct and accountability through a clear governance framework that promotes sound decision-making and the confidential reporting of concerns.
