Short Biography
Rafaela joined Island Energies in 2015 in an operational role, gaining first-hand experience of the marine fuels, bunkering and trading industry before transitioning to the legal function in 2018. She subsequently established and led the Group’s Legal Department, progressing from Legal Counsel to Senior Legal Counsel and, in 2025, Chief Legal Officer.
With experience on both the operational and legal sides of the business, Rafaela brings a practical, commercially focused perspective to legal strategy. Her work spans commercial contracts, maritime claims, fuel quality disputes, corporate governance, financing, M&A, and strategic investments across multiple jurisdictions.
Rafaela holds an LL.M. from the University of Groningen and is based in Limassol, Cyprus.
